HL & E Timbers is looking for an experienced and reliable Fitter to join our maintenance team at our sawmill on the R33 between Lothair and Amsterdam.
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Fitter with a recognised trade certificate.
- Previous experience in a sawmill or heavy industrial environment will be advantageous.
- Strong mechanical fault finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance and attend to breakdowns.
- Welding and fabrication experience will be advantageous.
- Able to work independently and under pressure.
- Willingness to work overtime and attend to breakdowns when required.
- Fluent in English/ Afrikaans (isiZulu advantageous).
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair sawmill machinery and equipment.
- Identify and resolve mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Bearing, gearbox, pulley, chain, and sprocket replacements.
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Inspect, repair and replace worn mechanical components.
- Assist with machinery installations, modifications and improvements.
- Maintain safe working practices and good housekeeping in the workshop.
Location: R33(New Scotland Area), between Lothair and Amsterdam, Mpumalanga.
Salary: Market-related, based on qualifications and experience.
