We are looking for a qualified and experienced Forester to lead and coordinate our mechanised silvicultural operations in our forestry operations in Paulpietersburg, KZN. Thuthugani Contractors enjoys world class safety standards and safety processes are an integrated part of our operations.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
- Execute and achieve the Annual Plan of Operations for our mechanised silvicultural and fire protection activities.
- Plan and execute the mechanised re-establishment program to ensure maximum stocking within silviculture standards is achieved.
- Plan and carry out timeous weed control operations to achieve maximum yields.
- In charge of mechanised operations (mechanised pitting machines, spray rigs, planting trailers, discs, clearing saws etc.)
- Manage efficient use of machines to achieve budgeted machine productivities.
- Plan for compartments before deployment of equipment and labour
- Execute Fire Protection Plan and ensure that all resources are ready and available to immediately respond in the event of a fire.
- Adhere to safety standards.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate must be a mature team player with a focus for attaining results without supervision who in addition should meet the following attributes:
- Diploma/Degree in Forestry as a minimum
- At least 7 years practical experience.
- Innovative and mechanically minded
- Clean driver’s license
